We Offer Many Types of Massage Therapy

Massage therapy can, and should, be part of a physical preventative maintenance plan.

Pain Management Massage

Gentle Relaxation Massage

Best choice for relaxation and reducing blood pressure. Consists of long flowing strokes ranging from very light to medium pressure. Compressions, stretching or gentle rocking movements may also be used.

Lymphatic Drainage

Specific techniques are applied to promote circulation of the lymphatic fluids and increase immune system function. This is especially useful in draining stagnant areas, edema or chronic swelling and reducing the pain that accompanies many medical conditions. PMS cramps and bloating are greatly reduced with lymph drainage. Both allergy and chronic sinus sufferers will find relief with a series of lymph drainage sessions. These techniques are also helpful in draining the breast lymph nodes to increase the health and immunity of the breasts and, in some cases, may reduce breast cysts.

Lymph drainage for the legs can reduce or help prevent varicose veins, spider veins and cellulite. Pregnant women and diabetics can reduce swelling and pain in the feet. Many insurance companies cover this treatment. We will forward information to your doctor or insurance company on the benefits of Lymphatic Drainage.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is designed to work with the specific needs a person might have going through cancer treatment. The advanced massage training includes in depth knowledge of types of cancer and possible metastasis sites to be avoided, local and systemic contraindications (when and where it is safe to perform the massage), traditional treatments and side-effects and how to modify the massage techniques accordingly.  Before the beginning of the massage sessions an in-depth medical history is taken and permission from the main treating doctor is requested, explaining the modifications of the massage techniques used.  Depending on the cancer treatment a client is receiving (surgery, radiation or chemotherapy), the massage session could be shorter, with lighter pressure and slower pace, with a focus only on certain areas.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is effective adjunct treatment to manage acute and chronic pain, pelvic and menstrual problems, temporomandibular dysfunction, headaches, sports injuries, restriction of motion, recurring injuries, and for the enhancement of optimum performance.

This is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to reduce restrictions. Eliminating these fascial limitations can remove pressure from various systems of the body, relieving pain while improving the quantity and quality of motion and function.  The fascial system surrounds, fuses with, and influences every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, organ and cell of the body. Fascia also separates, supports, connects, and protects everything. This three-dimensional web of connective tissue is alive and ever changing.  Ask for Beth Ryan, AS, LMT

1/2 hr $75 ~ 1 hr $120 ~ 1.5 hr $160

Scar Tissue Release

This approach centers on the physiological principles of fascial restrictions, lengthening of the deep fascia, breaking down adhesions and the restoration of lymphatic circulation.  Understanding that scar tissue has the potential to spread in any direction, including internally, you gain a whole new perspective on motion restriction in the body.  The slightest adhesion or scar impacts the ability to function/perform properly. Whether a simple scar from a childhood injury or a large scar from surgery as an adult, each can have a lifelong physiological effect on the body.  Our Therapists who are trained in this modality are:

Jenny Royer, BS, LMT  ~  Beth Ryan, AS, LMT

Jenn Storti, LMT  ~  Mossy Paradise, AS, LMT

Marita Ray, BS, LMT  ~  Gail Lavoie, LMT

Traditional Thai Massage

Traditional Thai massage (Nuad Bo Rarn) is a great way to loosen the tightest areas of the body as the therapist stretches and moves the body into yoga-like postures. For this reason it is often called “lazy man’s yoga” as the therapist uses her body to twist, press and stretch the client.  This fabulous work is effective for relieving muscular tension, increasing range of motion and flexibility and can be done on anyone regardless of age or flexibility.  The benefits of Thai massage can include, but are not limited to, the reduction of back pain, headaches and neck pain as well as reducing stress and anxiety.

This ancient form of body work, unlike other massage therapy modalities, is performed on a mat on the floor.  The client is dressed in loose, comfortable clothes and relaxes as the therapist works.  It can be expected that the therapist will use her hands, feet, elbows and counter weight with the client during the session.  The massage is rhythmic and a deep relaxation generally occurs as the body and mind settle and become quiet.   Many people say that this work leaves them with a sense of feeling recharged physically, spiritually and energetically for many days following a session.  Ask for Ashlee Shaw, LMT  or  Kelley Gleason, LMT

Zero Balancing

“Some bodywork, such as massage, Rolfing and chiropractic, focuses primarily on improving the function of the physical body. Other modalities, such as acupuncture, Reiki and Polarity Therapy, work to enhance body energy. A Zero Balancing practitioner consciously and actively engages BOTH body energy and body structure simultaneously – bringing them into balance within themselves and with one another. The result is greater than the sum of the parts, enabling the person on the table to feel engaged on the levels of body, mind and spirit. Often, with Zero Balancing, both energy and physical function improve dramatically.”
